Michael Baker's very own Kevin Pomaski (UAS Services Director), is highlighted in a recent Nevada DOT video discussing the deployment of UAS to perform emergency assessments of road damage due to recent flooding.

 

The imagery captured during the collection was converted into colorized point clouds during post-processing. We have published them using Potree. (The interactive point cloud is supported in Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.)

The Mobile LiDAR team at Michael Baker International had the distinct pleasure of being showcased on the latest episode of Worldwide Business with kathy ireland®.  The segment, which aired on Sunday, September 25^th on Fox Business Network, featured Peter Bonne, CEO of Orbit GT®.  As you’ve seen in previous posts (Picture of the Week and LiDAR Data & Orbit GT), Michael Baker utilizes Orbit’s Content Manager, Asset Inventory and Publisher software applications to exploit LiDAR and panoramic imagery through our own web-portal.

Michael Baker’s Mobile LiDAR equipment and personnel were represented throughout the broadcast, including interviews with Bob Hanson, Senior Vice President of Geospatial Information Technology and Scott Peterson, Systems Supervisor.  Each discussed the importance of Geospatial data in managing and maintaining our Nation’s infrastructure.

Our LiDAR operations have employed Orbit GT’s software for the past year.  Publishing spherical imagery and LiDAR data has become a routine deliverable to our clients. By offering the data in an “easy to use” application our clients are empowered to make timely decisions without overwhelming them with “Big Data.”

The purchase completes an upgrade for Michael Baker International’s existing Lynx system to the SG1 specification, equipping the firm with two of the most powerful mobile mapping systems in the world. The first of the new Lynx SG1 systems is scheduled for immediate delivery to Michael Baker International.

The latest in Optech’s line of mobile mappers, the Lynx SG1 collects ultra-dense 3D data with survey-grade accuracy from a vehicle travelling at cruising speeds, along with co-aligned camera imagery. With Optech’s Lynx SG1 systems, Michael Baker International will remain at the forefront of the engineering profession and will expand its national business by efficiently accomplishing high accuracy engineering surveys and asset mapping for managing highways, runways and other
infrastructure.
